Paul D. Anderson, of Midland, passed away Thursday, July 14, 2005.
He was born January 1, 1922 to Warren D. Anderson and Ada Ericson Anderson in Denver, Colorado. Paul lived most of his boyhood in Midland, Texas, graduating from Midland High School in 1939. After graduation, he attended the University of Texas studying Geology. Paul was a member of Phi Kappa Sigma social fraternity. He proudly served his country during WW II, and was a First Lt. Navigator on B-29s, flying the Hump and later 45 missions over Japan. His plane flew over the Independence as Japan surrendered to General McArthur. After the war Paul finished his studies at U.T. in Austin.
Paul returned to Midland and helped form the firm of W. D. Anderson & Sons with his father and brother Payton V. Anderson. In his career he was instrumental in the discovery and extension of numerous oil & gas fields in the Permian Basin and also North Dakota, Wyoming, Colorado and the Black Warrior Basin of Alabama and Mississippi. He was a member of the American Association of Petroleum Geologists. On June 12, 1948, he married Margaret "Peggy" Bissell in Midland, Texas. Peggy battled Multiple Sclerosis for many years, and Paul was her loving and attentive caregiver until her death in September, 2004. He was also preceded in death by his parents and infant twin sons.
Paul is survived by his son, Kenneth Donald Anderson and his wife, Elizabeth, of Hill City, SD; his daughter, Karen Sue Anderson of Wimberley, TX; brother, Payton V. Anderson and his wife, Evelyn, of Midland, TX; cousin, Paul Drickey of Midland, TX; grandchildren, Beau and Dustin Reichert, Kyra, Skye and Sember Anderson. Paul's family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks and gratitude to Home Hospice, his caregivers, Armida Montoya, Veronica Montoya, Mary Browning, Angela Barela and Amparo Galindo, and his Hospice nurse, Piper Secklin.
The family will receive friends at Ellis Funeral Home, Sunday, July 17, 2005 between the hours of 6:00 P.M. and 8:00 P.M. Funeral services have been scheduled for 3:00 P.M. Monday, July 18, 2005 at Trinity Presbyterian Church with Dr. Jon Deily officiating. Interment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park. Arrangements are under the direction of Ellis Funeral Hom
