Individual Note:
     Laura was a graduate of Jericho High School and Johnson Normal School and taught in Williston, Jericho Center, and Richmond.
She married Hervey Gile in 1929 and lived in Richmond, VT. While in Richmond she was a member of the United Church of Christ, and held several offices in the State Fellowship of Women. She was a member of Friendship Chapter; No. 62 Order of Eastern Star and later Mary C. Burdik Chapter No. 6 where she joined in 1929-1997 (68 years).

She was a 4-H leader and a trustee of the town library. As a member of the Richmond Civic Club, she was instrumental in promoting the program of hosting at the Old Round Church.

From 1970 to 1981 she was employed by the Shelburne Museum as a guide.

After retiring from their heating and plumbing business, the Giles moved to and spent summers in Starksboro, VT and winters in Lake Wales, Florida. After moving from Richmond they were members of the United Huntington Baptist Church.

Laura had many interests, the most important was being with members of her family and encouraging family ties. She enjoyed fishing with friends and family, playing cards, playing recorder and organ. She did RSVP work for the VT Association for the Blind and Visually Impaired, needle work, reading, and music filled the remaining hours.
